Before any info is given, I thought it and it makes sense to think it that Upper One is Tanjiro's dad and that is the big twist. But, obviously once you're made aware he's more than 113 years old that can't happen. It also means he didn't know Tanjiro's dad because again, over 100 years. But it can be confusing until more info is given.
